Vantage Point

“...the house is made up of multiple levels...from where I stood at the corner in the dining room I could count as many as four levels and that was just the ground floor.  Yet there was nothing forced or contrived about the multileveled design of the house.  On the contrary, there is an organic and fluid feel to the entire structure---to the point that one loses sight of the multiplicity of levels.  Large expanses of light and space in place of walls bring in plenty of natural light throughout the day, at the same time breaking the orthodox distinction between indoors and outdoors.  There are no unsightly corners and from anywhere in the house one is treated to views of soothing greenery and tranquil scenery.  It’s rather like seeing the world from a never changing vantage point.”

“I think our architect, John Pangilinan, was very brave because this is a very difficult piece of land to build on.  It’s very steep.  We have been incredibly lucky... finding a very imaginative architect.  Fate guides you.”
